Carina grew up in Mission, Texas and graduated from Mission High School in 2002. She attended The University of Texas- Pan American in Edinburg, Texas on a full-tuition scholarship and graduated magna cum laude with a B.B.A. in Finance in 2005. While at UTPA, Carina was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honour Society. She also served as co-president of the Pre-Law Society and was a Student Government Association senator from the College of Business, where she served as Fiscal Committee Chair.
Carina attended the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas and received her J.D. from UT in May 2008. While in law school, Carina was active in the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students’ Association. She was a judicial intern for Justice Linda Yanez of the Thirteenth Court of Appeals of Texas in Edinburg, Texas, a legislative intern for Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa in Austin, Texas, and a law clerk for Advocacy, Inc. in Austin, Texas.
Carina was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November of 2008. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at the Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney’s Office in Edinburg, Texas. While at the DA’s office, Carina served as lead prosecutor in two county courts, where she first-chaired nine jury trials. Carina is a member of the Hidalgo County Young Lawyer’s Association, the Hidalgo County Bar Association, and the Mission Jr. Service League.
